Red ivory (Berchemia zeyheri)is an indigenous tree to Africa, predominantly in Zimbabwe, Northern Botswana and South Africa. It is also known as pink ivory.
The wood is extremely hard, durable and very rare.
The heartwood ranges from brownish pink to a bright pink to deep red.
