In December 2015, Jacques made a strategic shift from his full-time career in the agricultural co-operative sector to immerse himself in his passion for crafting unique wood furniture from natural, live-edge slabs. Confronting the challenge of wood cutting, he invested in a Lucas Mill portable sawmill, allowing him to meticulously shape slabs up to 1500mm wide and planks. The allure of large, solid live slabs planted a seed for Jacques to dream bigger. This vision materialized when he acquired the first and only Lucas Mill Super Slabber in Africa, capable of cutting impressive slabs up to 2700mm wide. This transformative tool marked the evolution of wood into functional art, resulting in the creation of extraordinary custom-made furniture.
